SEP | Open Monumentendag 2026
On September 12th, Katoenhuis is once again opening its doors for Open Monumentendag Rotterdam — and this year, there’s an extra reason to look back: Katoenhuis turns 75.
Dates
12.09.2026
Location
Katoenhuis
Since 1950, the building has moved through many lives: from a warehouse for cotton arriving through Rotterdam’s port, to a setting for underground music, tropical fruit storage, and now a new chapter as a home for immersive experiences, technology and culture.
During Open Monumentendag, we invite you to experience Katoenhuis in two ways:
Guided Tours
During Open Monument Day Rotterdam, Concrete Culture, the initiators of the Katoenhuis redevelopment, is organizing a guided tour of the Katoenhuis. Reservations are required in advance. Saturday at 11:30, 12:30, and 13:30. The tours last 30 minutes . Reserve your spot here.
Photo Opportunity – Katoenhuis Revisited
Attention photographers! Your camera and a photogenic building. You are invited to walk through the Katoenhuis and capture the building's unique spatial qualities without crowds of people. Reservations are required in advance.
Saturday at 10:00 AM (tripods and lighting allowed). Reserve your spot here.
Use of content & attribution: All participants agree to share selected photos with Katoenhuis for promotional and archival purposes. All content will be properly credited in public communications, including social media, the website, and print.
Good to know:
Katoenhuis can only be visited with a reservation for these activities; you cannot view the interior of the building on your own.
Accessibility
As an organization, we attach great importance to accessibility and inclusivity. Because Katoenhuis is a heritage building in transition, unfortunately, not all spaces are currently as accessible as we would like.
The ground floor is fully accessible, but the first floor is only accessible via stairs. However, there is still more than enough to see and experience on the ground floor. We are happy to share this information in advance to prevent any disappointment.
