During Dag van de Architectuur Rotterdam (Architecture Day), OMI presented "Time Tripping" at Katoenhuis. The audience boarded on a minibus at Schiehaven for an exploration of the former port area M4H. There, artist and scenographer Philip Lüschen took them on a tour through the Katoenhuis. In an exciting performance with light, sound and stories, the audience was guided through the many layers of time of this enormous warehouse. The Katoenhuis has known many identities: from cotton storage in the 1950s to rave parties in the 2000s, and now an Immersive Experience Hub at the intersection of technology, culture and new media. During the performance, they were tripping from one reality to another; experiencing the shifting form of the space.
The work of visual artist and scenographer Philip Lüschen lies at the intersection of theatre and architecture. Utilising world-building techniques such as scale models, game engines, and film sets, he explores how the built world is constructed and, in turn, shapes and directs us.
